The most exciting summer reading program is back!
Starts on July 7th and will run until September 1st, you can adventure and read at your own pace. Part reading program, part scavenger hunt– the most fun reading you’ll have all year.

How it works:
1. Create your login
2. Choose your age category, and then choose your first book. Books are linked to the library, so you can easily find them or buy one from your favorite local bookshop.
3. Read your book
4. After you’ve finished your book, take the quiz to unlock the coordinated to the destination.
5. Take a fun adventure, using your map app, and use the coordinates to find the hidden box. Inside is a code word. Take a mini treasure, add a mini treasure.
*Boxes are about 3 in by 1.5 in. – small figurines, little notes, paper origami, and small keychains are best. Leave a note in the notebook. No food or candy, as this can attract animals. (find examples here)
6. After your adventure, unlock the next set of books and begin again

Collect the badges online by completing a mission. Finish reading a book or visiting an adventure place, and earn a new badge. For those of you who like to consume books in stacks, you can earn a bonus badge by completing all 3 recommended books for each mission.
Sometimes the boxes are taken or opened with missing contents, which can be by humans or curious animals. While it’s hard to prevent this, you can let us know, and we will give you the code and send a prize in the mail. The box will be replaced immediately.

Can I participate in the program if I can’t go to the adventure locations?
A: You can just participate in the reading side of the program and we hope you have fun and enjoy it.
How many books do I have to read to complete the program?
A: To complete the reading side of the program, you must read one book from each section. However, we have chosen some amazing books, so the more books you read, the more badges you collect.
Do I have to own all the books that are recommended?
A: Not at all, each book listed also has a link to the Vancouver public library simply click the link to see if it is available. All of the books have been curated by the Secret Society of Books and each one is a great read, if you would like to buy them we highly recommend it! Shop your favorite local bookstore.
How do I collect badges?
A: You collect the badges online by completing a mission. Finish reading a book or visiting an adventure place earns you a new badge. For those of you who like to consume books in stacks you can earn a bonus badge by completing all 3 recommended books for each mission.
How many badges are there to collect?
A: There are 6 reading badges, and 6 adventure badges, however you can collect 6 more bonus combo badges by reading all 3 recommended books for each associated mission.
